Spring back can be defined as the total elastic recovery of the seal. This is the difference between the fully compressed height of the seal and the height of the seal after the load has been released.
For the range of cord seals, the spring back depends on various factors including seal cross-section, construction and number of cycles, but would typically be in the range of 15 to 25% of the original seal cross-section.
To obtain the most amount of spring back, a softer seal is required such as the Series 3443. This would limit the number of cycles attainable, as there is always a compromise between spring back and endurance. The Series 3811 can typically operate in excess of 30,000 cycles achieving full spring back over the complete range.
