WHERE TUBULAR BRAID IS USED
Tubular braid, both metal (wire) & non-metallic (yarn), can be used to cover different components for a variety of reasons:
Pipes & Hoses
Depending on the type of pipe or hose, from low pressure PTFE hoses to high pressure hydraulic pipes, tubular braid can be used to:
- Increase pipe or hose operating pressure
- Protect the pipe or hose from mechanical damage
- Protect the pipe or hose from abrasive damage
- Enhance hoop strength (burst pressure) of pipe or hose
- Protect the pipe or hose from external chemical attack
- To provide thermal insulation
- Identify hose by means of colour coding on non-metallic (yarn) tubular braid
Electrical Wiring & Cables
Tubular braid can be used to:
- Protect the wiring or cable from mechanical damage
- Protect the wiring or cable from abrasive damage
- Keep several wires together to form a wiring loom
- To provide thermal insulation
- Provide electrical shielding
Metal or Non Metallic Bellows
Tubular braid can be used to:
- Increase bellows operating pressure
- Protect the bellows from mechanical damage
- Protect the bellows from abrasive damage
- Enhance bellows hoop strength (burst pressure)
- Protect the bellows from external chemical attack
- To provide thermal insulation
