Tubular braid in both metal & non-metallic construction is normally designed to give a maximum practical coverage of the component to be covered. This is normally in the region of 95-97%.
The coverage is specified by:
A typical example using wire:
50 mm id x 60 x 12 x 0.314mm (30 swg) x 52o
This indicates:

This would give coverage of approximately 97%
‘Plait’ indicates the number of groups of wires or yarns / cm (inch)
Plaits / cm (inch) = ˝ number of spindles Pitch in cm (inch)
Our standard coverage for wire & yarn tubular braid is shown in metal tubular braid (wire) & non-metallic tubular braid (yarn) but these can be modified to meet particular requirements.
Materials of Construction
Practically, any metal that can be drawn into wire & a wide variety of yarns can be used, but for economical reasons, only certain types of wires & yarns in certain diameters are stocked as standard.
For other wires & yarns in differing diameters, non-standard materials can be purchased & converted to tubular braid.
Supply Options
The tubular braid can either be supplied:
