VERTEX VEE-RINGS

Vertex Vee-Rings sets are the ideal seal for reciprocating equipment, allowing free movement of the rod, resulting in minimum rod wear and longer seal life. They require little or no adjustment, since, by virtue or their design, they open up under hydraulic pressure and thus compensate for any wear which occurs. The section is such that the individual rings are self-adjusting to compensate for varying pressure. The special "Vee" section allows the rings to nest together, thus allowing a greater number of rings to be fitted in a given depth of stuffing box.  This is of partcular advantage for shallow stuffing boxes or where the pressure is high.

Vertex Vee-Rings are usually supplied in sets, consisting of top and bottom adapter rings and a sufficient number of intermediate, Vee-Rings to make up the depth required.

Vee-Ring only sets can be ordered where metal header rings are already in use.  Header rings can also be supplied in alternative materials such as CrossflonŽ. These alternative headers are useful where gland clearances are greater than normal and thus prevent extrusion of the Vee-Rings.

Vertex Vee-Rings can be made from a wide range of materials. Some examples are as follows: -

Quality S.1802
This is the most popular, general-purpose type and is made from non-metallic fabric, impregnated with a specially formulated synthetic rubber compound. The rings are normally surface treated with graphite, but this can be omitted.

Recommended applications include:
air, gases, steam, water, oils and mild chemical fluids.

Max. Temperature: 1200C *
Max. Pressure: 28 Mpa (280 bar) *
Speed: 2m/sec
pH Range:5 - 9

Quality S.3570
Similar to type S.1802 in all aspects except that a special, high-temperature BCX fabric is used as the base material.Surface treated with graphite but this can be omitted. Can be used in similar applications to Quality S.1802, but for higher temperatures.

Max. Temperature: 2000C *
Max. Pressure: 25 Mpa (250 bar) *
Speed: 2m/sec
pH Range:5 - 9

Quality S.3738
Made from Kevlar cloth and impregnated with PTFE dispersion Can be used for still higher temperatures than Quality S.3570, but also for a wider range of chemicals.

Max. Temperature: 2500C *
Max. Pressure: 15 Mpa (150 bar) *
Speed: 2m/sec
pH Range:3 - 14

Quality S.3686
Made from an Aramid cloth impregnated with PTFE to provide the high temperature and chemical resistance.

Max. Temperature: 3000C *
Max. Pressure: 17 Mpa (170 bar) *
Speed: 2m/sec
pH Range: 2 - 13

* Maximum Temperature and Pressure guides can not necessarily be used simultaneously.
